There are a great number of reasons to take part in the competition and it is free!  The children have between now and Christmas to choose a poem to learn and practice reciting it aloud.  After the October break, Miss Armstrong and I will be offering some time to practise and polish their performances as part of our ‘Poetry by Heart’ club.  There are a whole range of poems to choose from, and they can be found on the Poetry by Heart website.

We will be holding a school competition in December and winning performers will attend our school final in February. 

School finalist winners will be invited to represent the school in the national competition where there is a chance of performing at Globe Theatre in London.  The school is registered in the competition and entries will be made by us. 

We will also be practising a group poem for everyone who joins us at our club after half term. 

Key Stage 1 children are welcome to participate in the school competition, but the national competition is only for KS2 children.
